We were wrong. Having relied upon an informal source, we told you both suicide attempts in Polk County Mon day were successful. In fact, the one man did not die and is reported to be in stable condi tion. This is good news, of course. We're sorry for making such a grievous error. Tlie Polk County Jaycces will be out cleaning their adopted highway Saturday afternoon. The Jaycces also recently named their Jaycce of the Month, Anne Crowell, and Jaycce of the Quarter, Kenneth 'Shag' Page. The Polk County Democratic Mens Club will meet Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Democratic headquarters. There will be a rally in Landrum Sunday at 1 p.m. to honor U.S. military personnel in the Gulf. Die Polk County Spelling Bee will be held Tuesday morning at 9.30 at Stearns Education (Continued On Back Page) TRYON, N C. 28782 FRIDAY, FEB. 22, 1991 20( Per Cop y Reward Offered For Missing Shar-Pei Linda Schatzberg has offered a reward for a missing Shar-Pei puppy which she believes was stolen from her Hunting Coun try farm. One puppy was found to be missing earlier this week from the special room in her barn where she was raising a number of puppies. "I am offering a sizeable reward," she said. "No ques tions asked. It can't be worth to these people what it is worth to me." Schatzberg said this particular puppy would not nurse its mother at birth, and that she had saved its life by hand-feeding it once each hour for the last three weeks. "It is like they removed one of my children," she said, "and I want it back." Schatzberg's farm was also victimized in the recent rash of saddle thefts. She said the two don't compare. Order Forms Available Danny and Jan Orleans Super Saturday Theatre ticket sales will begin Monday, Feb. 25, with a new procedure to make more equal all students' chances to receive tickets ordered. Super Saturday will be March 16 this year. Ticket order forms are being given to all Polk County and Landrum students at their schools today, Feb. 22. Diese must be returned to school Monday, Feb. 25 with payment of $1 per ticket. Womack was declared winner of the district contest recently and will compete at Lenore, M.C. on Sunday, Feb. 24. He will be accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. George Scofield. The district meeting Satur day will be held at Post 250 in Tryon, with soup and sand wiches being served at 12:30 p.m. District Commander Shuford Edminton will report on the Legions spring conference recently held in Charlotte. This is the first time in a number of years that the Tryon Post has hosted this meeting " said George Scofield. "All Legion members are urged to attend." The next regular meeting of Post 250 will be held on Tues day, March 5th at which lime plans for spring activities will be discussed. Democrat Women To Meet On Monday Polk County Democrat women will meet Monday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Demo cratic Headquarters in Colum bus.
